how much it moved you
Two separate readings, not parts of the score — the score says how much of it held you, these say what kind of watch it was.
Nobody has rated this on FlickFeel yet. This is public discussion of this title, read into a curve. It is not a rating and it never becomes one.
Read from 104 comments (64 from Reddit, 28 from Metacritic, 12 from TMDB reviews) — 44 of them described how it moves.
➖ steady — Holds one level all the way. Pulled both ways throughout — never simply one thing. Marked above the line: 1 moment that made people jump, 3 that landed as a blow, 1 that gave people chills.

“the slow pace as HAL slowly goes mad is fucking terrifying”
“the second act is one of incredible suspense”

“The end, the ascent of "mankind" to the cosmos... the majesty of the music and the cosmic baby, just fill one with optimism that we will venture ahead and we will -eventually- get to space and continue this journey of exploration we continuously strive for.”

“the most spiritual part of the movie is the ape playing with the thigh bone.”
aecarol1 · Reddit ↗
“the first third of the film is all about the birth of technology, that the entire first act is about how these apes are desperately outgunned and need to level up just to survive, and when they finally discover the “Stick” as a viewer, it’s cathartic. The birth of technology right before our eyes. Suddenly the meek, fearful group who ran from jaguars and other factions now held the power.”
“Seeing that, followed by the smash cut from the stick, to the space ship was jaw dropping.”

Published reviews, not felt experience — a different question from the one above, and never mixed into the FlickFeel score.
It reviews better than it plays — admired more than it is enjoyed.
“This is the way this ground-breaking monument was meant to be seen: in mind-boggling 70mm.”
Marjorie Baumgarten, Austin Chronicle · 100
“Its special effects are used so seamlessly as part of an overall artistic strategy that, as critic Annette Michelson has pointed out, they don't even register as such, and thus are almost impossible to trivialize, a feat unmatched in movies.”
Jonathan Rosenbaum, Chicago Reader · 100
“Only a few films are transcendent, and work upon our minds and imaginations like music or prayer or a vast belittling landscape...Alone among science-fiction movies, 2001 is not concerned with thrilling us, but with inspiring our awe.”
Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times · 100
“A masterpiece that can still leave you dizzy with wonder. As much as any movie ever made, this visionary science-fiction tale of space travel and first contact with extraterrestrial life is a spellbinding experience.”
Michael Wilmington, Chicago Tribune · 100
“Its faults - sketchy narrative, overblown abstraction - are counterbalanced by its gripping engagement between man and machine, and its rhapsodic wonder at heaven and earth and the infinite beyond.”
Angie Errigo, Empire · 100

Grouped by where it was written, because a considered review and a reaction typed an hour after the credits are different things. Every quote links to its source.
