Left to right is this episode — its opening to its closing minutes. This is the one span the comments were always describing.

Two separate readings, not parts of the score — the score says how much of it held you, these say what kind of watch it was.

Not enough to put a number on. The shape below is drawn from what there is, with the widest uncertainty band we use — it is the start of an answer, not one.

Not enough people said when to name this shape. The line is what the evidence draws, not a finding.

Drag across the curve to see what people said at any point.

what people actually wrote

Grouped by where it was written, because a considered review and a reaction typed an hour after the credits are different things. Every quote links to its source.

  • Holy shit did Ruth Wilson and James McAvoy did shine on that scene. You know which one. That central scene that encapsulates all that HDM is about. You had the theological talk, the coming to realization you've devoted your life to a lie, the trading of metaphorical and ideological blows... And beneath that the raw emotional tension between two people who understand each other at their core (well, they actually made a child together so...), have the power to truly hurt each other, actually do it but still care deeply for the other. It was beautifully written (with lines straight from the book, that was great) and acted. One of the best scenes of the show (that can sometimes take the wind out of what should be its most intense moments) so far.

  • Similarly underwhelmed by the lack of spectacle and to-do in the reforging of the knife

  • I giggled at the forging scene because they showed just the knife, and not anyone manipulating it (after Will’s part) and I realized “they don’t know how a bear would do it either.”
