Up until Sherlock mentioned Moriarity, I was absolutely sure (and astonished) that the the writers were going in that direction, despite all the press releases about that not being their intention. I’ve never been a “shipper” - quite the reverse. I’ve never felt any romantic tension, at *all*, between Holmes and Watson. But everything in that scene seemed to be going in that direction (particularly Sherlock’s “I don’t know that I can”, in answer to Watson’s assertion that Sherlock could “have everything that [Harlan] has”).”
