how much it moved you
Two separate readings, not parts of the score — the score says how much of it held you, these say what kind of watch it was.
Nobody has rated this on FlickFeel yet. This is public discussion of this title, read into a curve. It is not a rating and it never becomes one.
Read from 266 comments (220 from Reddit, 42 from Metacritic, 4 from TMDB reviews) — 47 of them described how it moves.
➖ steady — Holds one level all the way. Hard going most of the way through. In the last stretch it was tender and painful at the same time, which is the state people mean by being moved. Very little of it ever resolves. Marked above the line: 2 that landed as a blow, 1 that gave people chills, 1 that got a real laugh.

“Whole theater was bawling for last 30 minutes of the movie.”

“I physically cringed when he crawled into his new truck and proclaimed, "this is living." Big yikes.”

“young Otto being the weakest part. I actually think it would’ve worked if young Sonya wasn’t so hot. Otto’s whole back story played out like a virgin fantasizing about meeting their dream girl. I just couldn’t buy into their relationship without questioning how she is even into him.”

“I was tearing up through most of the last 30 minutes”

“I couldn't put my finger on what felt horribly wrong with this scene, but if you put it like that it works. I did not really believe that *no one* would try to help with the train still so far away. Also, do trains not brake? Do they not even attempt to do so?”

Published reviews, not felt experience — a different question from the one above, and never mixed into the FlickFeel score.
“It’s rare that we need two of essentially the same film, rarer than rare, but “A Man Called Otto” has earned a space in the list of worthy remakes for its big heart and emotionally charged performances that don’t skimp on the comedy.”
Lex Briscuso, The Playlist · 75
“Although the level of manipulation is several notches higher than in the Swedish original, A Man Called Otto boasts fine performances from Tom Hanks and Mariana Trevino and offers the kind of crowd-pleasing arc that runs counter to the prevalent mood of worldwide cynicism.”
James Berardinelli, ReelViews · 75
“A Man Called Otto isn’t exactly as philosophical as “About Schmidt” or as socially conscious as “I, Daniel Blake,” two films that occasionally hit similar notes. But it’s nevertheless a wholesome crowd-pleaser for your next family gathering.”
Tomris Laffly, RogerEbert.com · 75
“A small and warmhearted gem starring one of our finest veteran actors in a well-crafted and emotionally involving remake of a film about a widowed curmudgeon who begins to grow and change after experiencing some major life setbacks.”
Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times · 75
“The film chronicles suicide in a surprisingly forthright and unflinching way, and it takes an unexpectedly long time to reach its foregone conclusion. Still, Otto’s sweet, sentimental tone is not unwelcomed in the depths of a winter dogged by troublesome headlines on all fronts.”
Kim Hughes, Original-Cin · 75
