how much it moved you
Two separate readings, not parts of the score β the score says how much of it held you, these say what kind of watch it was.

βHe got his revenge in the first 20 minutesβ
βThe first act shows some promise as a shclocky, macho man revenge thriller, but it peters off into generic spy tropes near the end.β

βthere were about 15 minutes of screentime in Turkey. I did not know that beforehand, and i was hyped when the characters mentioned they would go to Turkey because i love American movies taking place in Istanbul. I was happy to see the aerial shots and Turkish road signs and such but then what broke my heart was how they did not even film in Turkey (they shot it in London, rented an alley and smokemachine-d the shit out of it), nothing looked like Turkey (from the car plates to fez-wearing people smoking hoqqas in the street), dialogue by "Turkiβ

βThe opening scene was genuinely disturbing and impactful.β
βI had to look away. It's not especially gory but the camera shows the fingernails getting ripped off and doesn't cut away at any point.β

βImmensely satisfying action thriller.β
Johnny Oleksinski, New York Post Β· 75
βBuilt for action, like its title character, the movie packs a muscular, bloody punch, but mainly itβs a well-oiled diversion.β
Sheri Linden, The Hollywood Reporter Β· 70
βAn international action thriller that starts slow but picks up speed and just outruns its own clichΓ©s to make for a gripping two-hour ride.β
Allen Salkin, New York Daily News Β· 70
βAmerican Assassin has some of the more terrifying, brutal, and visceral action sequences to be seen on the big screen so far this year. But the film canβt ever quite manage to maintain the same momentum or intensity as its opening act, thanks to a lackluster climax and sudden left-turn into full blown absurdity.β
Alex Welch, IGN Β· 68
βFor those without strong feelings for the Harrison Ford-era Clancy adaptations, which were polished but largely unmemorable, American Assassin works best as a little-league version of one of those or, in more contemporary terms, as an unsurprising origin story for what the filmmakers obviously hope is the beginning of a franchise.β
