Nobody has rated this on FlickFeel yet. This is public discussion of this title, read into a curve. It is not a rating and it never becomes one.

Thin evidence â the shape below rests on 1 comment. The shaded band is how wide the uncertainty actually is, and it is drawn to scale.

âA delightfully twisted fairy tale that artfully juggles broad tomfoolery and sly drollery, along with a generous serving of sight gags enhanced by special effects. Even though it's being pitched primarily at younger moviegoers and their parents, pic is exuberantly quirky enough to please almost anyone.â

âMatilda is fresh and spirited, and while the edge on it keeps the film interesting, DeVito manages to tilt it expertly from darkness to light. [02 Aug 1996, p.E4]â

âBetween the movie's frenetic bursts of energy, however, there's more than enough to enjoy, assuming you're not a Dahl purist. The best thing about the movie is actress Mara Wilson (who many will recognize from her role in Mrs. Doubtfire). With sleep bags under her bright eyes, and an array of facial expressions that ranges from shocked to mischievous, she looks as though she belongs in a Dahl-like world. [02 Aug 1996, p.N29]â

âThe contrast of light and dark, good and evil, enlightenment and ignorance, innocence and corruption is the heart of this absurd, insightful, sincere, very funny fairy tale of a movie. The cast is uniformly superb.â
Hollis Chacona, Austin Chronicle · 78
âMatilda doesn't condescend to children, it doesnât sentimentalize, and as a result it feels heartfelt and sincere. It's funny, too.â

âVery mediocre, the supernatural elements made it cringe, the story was okay, most characters were just annoying.â

âZany, wacky kid fodder from the mid '90s. Adapted from a Roald Dahl book with just a little dash of modernization, it's technically faithful but spiritually thin. Director (and supporting star) Danny DeVito, never particularly known for his nuance, seems dedicated to reenacting every last one of the silly, cheesy moments but whiffs on the book's heartier aspects. In his defense, that does seem to be a difficult target to hit, as many of Dahl's other works have failed similarly. Garishly colorfuâ

â**An excellent family comedy with some social criticism in the mix.** The film is one of the most famous family comedies of the 1990s, adapting the story of the same name by Roald Dahl for the screen, where a girl, who was born into an idiotic family unable to understand it, decides to win the right to go to school and to learn, which their parents do not value. However, at school, she comes across a cruel and sadistic headmistress who will become her biggest adversary, while her teacher becoâ
